Visitor Info - Alaska

Visitor Information

Anchorage has a lot to offer, so make sure you plan ahead and have enough time to see the sights. The Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau web site can help you plan your trip. Find out where to climb a glacier, see a moose, and catch a salmon. You can also find the best places to eat, sleep and dance the night away.

Lodging

The Anchorage Convention and Visitors Bureau can help you find a place to stay in Anchorage whether you want a 5 star hotel or just a place to pitch a tent. You can even request to have each hotel email you if they have any rooms available for Marathon weekend. Book your room early because most hotels will be booked solid that weekend!

Daylight

Marathon participants soon find out why Alaska is known as "Land of the Midnight Sun". Sunrise on race day will be at 4:21 a.m. and sunset will be at 11:43 p.m. for a total of 19 hours and 22 minutes of daylight.

Weather

The average weather found on race day is partly cloudy, winds averaging up to 10 m.p.h., humidity of 40% with a temperature range between 55-70 F. Although it has only rained 7 times on race day in the past 31 years, runners and spectators should always be prepared for rainy weather.
