Lion's Head Whitewater Rafting

You will depart Anchorage for a 1½-hour drive north on the Glenn Highway, a National Scenic By-Way to Chickaloon. Along the way you will find yourself looking at breathtaking scenery, which includes crystal clear streams, the mighty Matanuska River, snow-capped mountains, ancient glaciers and an abundance of wildlife. Once in Chickaloon you will check in for your adventure. Lions Head whitewater rafting trip lives up to its wild name! On the upper reaches of the Matanuska River the converging Matanuska Glacier encounters Lions Head, a massive rock wall, where the resulting squeeze play has created several miles of exciting class IV whitewater! This is an excellent first-timers whitewater trip that is also popular with experienced enthusiasts as well. This has been the most popular whitewater trip for over 30 years!
