The five miler (5.61 miles) begins at West High School and follows the Half Marathon course out West Northern Lights Boulevard. At Earthquake Park the Five Milers veer off the Half Marathon course and heads northwest on the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail to Westchester Lagoon. The last mile follows the marathon course to a shared finish line. Both the Half Marathon and Five Miler begin together at 9:00 a.m. Almost 600 five-milers participated in 2009.
